Country Line Dancing Bars in Pennsylvania

It is unnecessary to head to Nashville to discover the best country line dancing bars right in Pennsylvania. The popular Spurs Saloon might have closed, but plenty of other bars throughout the state will keep you entertained. Fun dancing locations range from Erie to Philadelphia and include traditional saloons with live music venues, family-owned establishments and even a gay bar.

  1. Saddle Ridge

    • Pittsburgh's Saddle Ridge Country Saloon is among the favorites in the area. The bar hosts its own dance lessons every Friday and Saturday evening, concerts and cheap alcoholic beverages---sometimes beer is just $2. Friday nights offer a free buffet, Wednesday is free for college students and karaoke welcomes bar visitors on Saturday night.

    Ada's Country Bar

    • Just outside Liverpool, Ada's Country Bar is another great saloon atmosphere. Now open almost 50 years, the small space open until 11 p.m. counts original ashtrays and drinks served by the now-legally blind bar owner as evidence nothing will change. A quick stop for dancing, music and drinks could make you a regular fan.

    Winner's Circle Saloon

    • The Harrisburg-Hershey Holiday Inn has its own saloon for guests and locals alike. Dance lessons are given four times a week and are free on Thursdays. When you are done dancing, work up an appetite with the delicious menu. Boasting rich buffalo wings, barbecue and countless entrees, the food is good and affordable. The saloon additionally has an even cheaper "sundown menu," for night owls eating after 10 p.m.

    Chaplin's Honkytonk Restaurant and Saloon

    • Chaplin's, located in Dunmore, says its dress code allows everything from "shorts to suits." The interior resembles an authentic old saloon with dark floors and cattle skulls on the walls, has music every night and once a week plays old rock-style country. The saloon is open everyday and has both non-smoking and smoking areas. Save room for the homecooked food.

Others: Country Gentleman, Woody's and Doc Holliday's

    • Country Gentleman in Hunlock Creek, open every day of the week but Mondays, features regular line dancing, performances, outdoor seating, takeout and country DJing. The bar recently reopened in late 2009 with a remodeling. Erie's Doc Holliday's Country Bar will entice you with alcoholic beverages starting at $1. Voted by local media "best hot wings" restaurant four years in a row, every night holds either karaoke contests or a live band. Finally, remember that country dancing isn't limited to saloons. Woody's Bar, a Philadelphia gay bar, often hosts country line dancing as well.
