Snowmobile Trails in Sandusky, Ohio

Sandusky, Ohio, is located in Erie County and sits on the Sandusky Bay. The city offers a wide variety of outdoor activities in all seasons. During the winter, snowmobiling becomes a favorite pastime. Winter conditions can be harsh so it is important to be prepared and check out weather and trail reports before setting off on a snowmobile adventure. That said, Sandusky offers several great snowmobile trails in nearby East Harbor State Park.

  1. Middle Harbor Trail

    • Middle Harbor Trail covers three quarters of a mile. The trail is a dirt trail and is open to hikers and walkers as well. There is parking at the trail access point; this is the only trail to have a picnic area. According to the East Harbor State Park website this is an excellent area for bird watching.

    Meadow Trail

    • Meadow Trail is also three quarters of a mile. The Meadow Trail runs on a loop through meadow grassland so it can be a great trail for inexperienced snowmobile riders. Wildlife sightings will be minimal. Parking is available.

    Wetlands Trail

    • The Wetlands Trail is 4 1/2 miles long. It is the longest snowmobiling trail in Sandusky. The access point at South Beach is shared with other trails. As this one journeys through a wetland area, it is very important to check conditions before traveling.

    Channel Dunes Loop

    • The Channel Dunes Loop is half a mile long. Channel Dunes Trail also starts from the South Beach parking lot. It is a short trail but heavily wooded. Because of the minimal visibility, this trail is better used by experienced snowmobile riders.
