How to Ride ATVs in Sutton, Alaska

Alaska is known for its majestic scenery, wildlife and large mountain ranges. All of this makes it a great place to enjoy ATV, or all-terrain vehicle, riding. As much of Alaska is uninhabited and rural, there are many places to enjoy an off-road experience. Sutton is located near Anchorage and was built as an early coal-mining community. Sutton is near the Tongass National Park and has become a familiar spot for those interested in ATV adventure rides.

      Bring your ATV to Sutton, Alaska or rent one upon arrival. Alaska All Terrain Tours rents ATVs as well as offers guided ATV tours. Sign up for a guided ATV tour if you are not experienced enough to go on your own. Some of the trails can be rather difficult, so it may be helpful to have a guide who knows what he is doing.

      Get a map of the trails that you are going to. There are over 100 miles of riding trails in the Tongass National Forest north of Sutton. If you are going without a guide, talk with a park ranger before heading out on your trip to make sure that the trails are in good condition and not muddy or overgrown. Eska Falls is another location near Sutton popular with ATV riders.
