Utah Mountain Weather

Utah is home to many of the United States' mountain ranges. The state is home to more than 300 peaks. The highest is King's Peak at 13,528 feet above sea level and the lowest is Beaver Wash at 2,350 feet above sea level. Because of the altitude of the mountains, the weather around Utah varies greatly.

  1. Highest Elevations

    • The Uintas are the highest mountains in Utah and home to King's Peak. During the day in the summer, temperatures can approach 80 degrees. At night temperatures can hover around freezing.

    Snow-Covered Mountains

    • Utah is known for its skiing. The Wasatch Range which contains Snowbird and Park City Ski Resorts receives some of the most snow in the state. Average precipitation is approximately 500 inches per year.

    Summer Weather

    • Prepare for varied temperatures. In the three summer months, Utah's temperatures range from a low of 44 degrees Fahrenheit to a high of 102 in the desert areas of the state. While rain is most common, snow can occur, even in June, on the highest mountains.

    Activities

    • Enjoy the outdoors in Utah. In the winter, skiing and snowboarding reign supreme. During the summer, hiking and mountain biking are the activities of choice.
