Moose Hunting in Henry's Fork, Wyoming

Henry's Fork is one of 44 approved areas for moose hunting in Wyoming. Not all hunters are able to hunt for moose in the area, however, as hunting licenses in the state are issued by a lottery drawing.

  1. Geography

    • As of the 2010 hunting season, the Henry's Fork area spans from where Interstate 80 crosses over the Green River and goes south along the river's eastern edge to the Flaming Gorge Reservoir, according to the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Then it heads south to the Wyoming/Utah state line and then west along the state line until Stateline Dam Road. From there, it heads north along the road up to Wyoming Highway 410, continuing north until reaching Interstate 80 and continuing east until the interstate reaches the Green River.

    Considerations

    • Both residents and non-residents are invited to apply through the state's Game and Fish Department for a moose hunting license. All applicants may request their first and second choice of hunting location, but the request is not a guarantee.

    Time Frame

    • Hunters who are issued a license to hunt in the Henry's Fork area must adhere to all state requirements. As of 2010, the moose hunting season in the area runs from October 1st to October 31. Hunters with a type one license can take up to five moose, excluding cows with a calf, while hunters holding a type four license can take up to five antlerless moose, excluding cows with a calf.
