With a population of a little over 118,000, the city of Stamford isn't short on restaurants. From simple comfort food to fast food to more upscale dining, there is something for every palate.
The recent increase in large corporations moving to Stamford has brought with it an influx of "reverse commuting," with passengers travelling from New York City to Stamford for work. This increase in population has given rise to new restaurants opening.
Italian restaurants are commonplace, with many pizzerias being located around Hope Street and Bedford Street. Chinese and Japanese eateries follow in popularity, and to a lesser extent Indian, Mexican and European.
One of the most highly recommended restaurants by critics is Il Falco, which specializes in homemade pasta, veal and seafood and has received favorable reviews from "The New York Times," "Time," and "Newsweek."
