Charlotte-area residents and visitors age 14 and older can take part in a bull riding school package offered by Cloud 9 Living. The three-day course takes place in Hope Mills, NC and is taught by professionals from the Sankey Rodeo School, founded by National Finals Rodeo champion Lyle Sankey.
Sankey has more than 30 years experience training new participants and competitors in the sport, so both the newcomer and the seasoned bull rider will benefit. The classes are video recorded so participants can see instant replays, and purchase a copy to remember their experience. All the necessary equipment is provided and included in the class cost, however, a western-style boot is required.

Shady Acres Ranch is an East Coast World Championship-sanctioned pro-rodeo and has been featured on national TV with Dave Mordell of the Last Comic Standing. The ranch's manager and coach Tim Fowler offers private bull riding lessons. There are bull riding opportunities for the general public at the rodeo held each Sunday night that showcases barrel racing and bull riding. There are calves and several bulls for the beginner to a professional-level rider, and students as young as 11. Students are able to use the ranch's equipment to experiment a bit before investing in their own. The ranch also hosts three-day sessions in May and September with the Sankey Rodeo School.

The North Carolina High School Rodeo Association offers bull riding training as part of their rodeo program. The association is a state-wide group that is part of the National High School Rodeo Association. The organization was created to allow student athletes opportunities to train and compete in the sport of rodeo.
Events, workshops and competitions are held throughout the year leading up to the national high school and junior high school finals in July. The program is open to public, private and accredited homeschooled students under the age of 20 who are in grades 9 through 12.
