Middle Schools in Syracuse, Utah

Syracuse, Utah is located in Davis County and is a fast-growing community. Syracuse is a town that offers both public and private education and is part of a metropolitan area centered around the city of Ogden. Though the bordering city of Layton is significantly larger and has many more schools, there are middle schools within the town of Syracuse itself, as well as schools that straddle the line between the two communities.

  1. Syracuse Junior High School

    • Syracuse Junior High is located in the heart of the town, and consists of grades 7 through 9. The official school mascot is the Seahawk. The school's website features popular silent films such as "A Trip to the Moon" with music performed by school's band. Students can also upload pictures to the school yearbook on the website. Syracuse is a small town of about 21,000 people and Syracuse Junior High is the only public middle school in the town.

    Syracuse Arts Academy Junior High

    • Syracuse Arts Academy is a private school that admits elementary and middle school-aged children. Their mascot is the dragons. Prospective students must apply to the school, and there is no guarantee that they will be accepted. This school infuses arts such as dance, theater, visual arts, and music into a regular school curriculum and follows a strict dress code consisting of collared shirts and either navy or khaki pants for boys, and navy or khaki skirts, shorts, or pants for girls.

    North Davis Preparatory Academy

    • A charter school that offers classes taught in both English and Spanish, North Davis Preparatory Academy is located in the city of Layton, which borders Syracuse. Its middle school consists of grades 7 through 9. Though it is a charter school with students selected in a lottery, it is not considered a private school and there is no tuition. North Davis Preparatory Academy is an international Spanish academy, and the first of its kind in Utah.

    North Layton Junior High School

    • North Layton Junior High School is a public middle school about 2 miles from Syracuse, near Interstate 15 and Davis Hospital and Medical Center. The school's mascot is the longhorns, and their colors are orange and black. Though it is a public school, its dress code requires students to wear uniforms which consist of navy blue, tan, and khaki green colors. Assistance is available to families who may not be able to afford uniforms.
