Named for the headquarters of The New York Times newspaper, Times Square is one of Manhattan's most famous intersections, according to NYCTourist.com. The boundaries of Times Square are Broadway and 7th Avenue between West 42nd and West 47th streets. Tourists flock to Times Square's 39 theaters, 40 hotels and numerous restaurants, all of which are required to prominently feature brightly lit billboard signs. Italian restaurants are frequently found in the vicinity of Times Square.
Becco, founded in 1993 by Lidia Bastianich, a well-known chef on PBS television, features fixed price menus and a la carte entrees. Three types of pasta are prepared tableside and served in unlimited portions to diners choosing the lunch or dinner pasta specials. Other traditional favorites include Becco's version of Caesar salad, minestrone soup, fried mozzarella, lemon chicken and veal Parmesan. Entrees clearly indicate which of Lidia Bastianich's five cookbooks feature the recipe and honor her family's Italian heritage. Becco is located four blocks from the heart of Times Square on West 46th between 8th and 9th avenues and is near the Westside Theater, Eugene O'Neill Theatre and Birdland Jazz Club.
