Cheli's Chili Bar is approximately four blocks from Ford Field on East Adams Avenue. Owned by former professional hockey player and member of the Detroit Red Wings, Chris Chelios, the restaurant has 36 televisions located through its dining area for showing sporting events. Seven appetizers lead the menu like the signature fried calamari, which is available in classic or Cajun flavors. The restaurant gets its name for its beef chili served in a cup, bowl or house-baked bread bowl. Sandwiches, salads, steaks and ribs are also featured on the menu. A full bar is available. The hours and days of operation at Cheli's Chili Bar vary seasonally, but the restaurant is always open before and after games at Ford Field that occur on weekends. Reservations are not taken.
