In a safe and comfortable environment, Surfer Girls Surf Camp offers three-to-five day and five-day overnight camp sessions for girls from beginner to intermediate. Taught by certified instructors, campers are placed in small groups of four. First instructed on dry land, campers will then experience surfing in various weather and wave conditions. Campers will learn about ocean safety and CPR. At the camp’s completion, they receive a first aid certificate of completion.

    Day Jams Rock Music Day Camp

    • Kids who'd rather rock during their summer can enroll in Day Jams Rock Music Day Camp with one-week day camp sessions for school-aged children entering third grade through grade 10. Initiated by the National Guitar Workshop, Day Jams Rock Music Camp centers on musical technique and skills, and the process of establishing a band. Beginners to experienced players attend instrument class to learn and improve their musical skills in guitar, drums, keyboards and voice under the guidance of a band director. In small working groups of eight, campers participate in designing and creating promotional band material. By the end of the week, campers will have written an original song and performed live with a recorded performance.

    The New Children's Museum Camp

    • The New Children’s Museum has art-based one-week summer camp programs for school-aged children entering first grade through high school. Working in small group settings, camp programs focus on project-based learning working directly with a professional artist. Past summer program themes have included basic felting techniques to explore texture and color, and painting like the master painters. Themes for older campers include kinetics, working from recycled corrugated board, film-making and screen-printed apparel and art production.

    • Held in the historic Casa del Prado building in Balboa Park, San Diego Junior Theatre camp offers camp sessions for aspiring actors ages four and up. Week-long sessions include half-day or full-day. Younger campers experience the creative arts through singing, movement, play-acting and craft activities. Campers entering first grade through 12th grade participate in up to four classes a day in the areas of acting, voice and dance, puppetry, mask-making and stage make-up. Campers present an open performance at the end of the session. Experienced Junior Theatre campers can partake in accelerated classes and specialty workshops to further develop their skills. These advanced performance camps require an audition with a one-minute song.
