Twenty minutes from Twin Lakes, WI in Burlington, the Brown Lake Aquaducks perform to the delight of many. Putting on performances in Fischer Park's Brown Lake, the Aquaducks shows are always free as they are a not-for-profit water-ski team. Their performances are fun for the entire family.
Since 1976 the Brown's Lake Aquaducks have been performing ski shows such as traditional and barefoot routines with human pyramids, ballet and jumps . Consisting of members who are passionate about skiing, with ages ranging from 4 to 70, the group is open to all. For those who are not trained in water skiing, but would like to join the group, the Aquaducks train new members not only how to ski, but also about safety in the water. They also have clinics on learning how to ski, safety and boat driving.
The Brown's lake Aquaducks offer a Junior Show Program for young skiiers. Starting at the age of eight children can join the program to learn how to ski and have them on their way to performing in shows. many of the Aquaducks started in the Junior Show where they learned how to drop a ski line, do pyramids, doubles, convetionals and more. The Junior's program is a valuable tool beyond the water as s well as children learn showmanship, communication and lessons on working with others in a team.
The Brown's Lake Aquaducks have garnered much praise and recognition for their shows. In 2009 they won the Wisconsin Division II State Champions trophy, beating seven other teams to win their 5th state title. The Aquaducks have appeared nationally on ESPN and members have performed on television and in movies. Performances also include the Bartlett's All Star Show, Collegiate Water Ski Teams, Cypress Gardens, Sea World, Marine World and photos in Water Ski Magazine.
The work that the Aquaducks do for the youth in the community with its Junior Show is not the only way that this team gives back. While hosting benefit shows the group has raised money for Child Abuse Prevention and other groups in the area. They also do volunteer projects in neighboring communities when needed.
Water ski shows for Brown's Lake Aquaducks run from Memorial Day to Labor Day. All shows are free at Fischer Park and start at 6:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to get there early for the Junior Show which opens at 5 p.m.
