Named after The New York Times, which moved here in 1924, Times Square is quite possibly the most famous intersection in the world. Located in midtown Manhattan, where Broadway meets Seventh Avenue and 42nd Street, Times Square is a veritable feast for the senses. Although probably best known as the site where the massive ball drops every New Year’s Eve, Times Square is also home to some of the best entertainment and food in the world, and an eclectic mix of shopping venues and attractions.
Dubbed the “Great White Way” north of 42nd Street, this stretch of Broadway now rivals Las Vegas in terms of its dazzling neon signs. Times Square is the only neighborhood in New York City where zoning ordinances require building owners to display neon signs. Some notable ones include the Toshiba billboard, the curved Coca-Cola sign and the seven-story NASDAQ sign at 4 Times Square. But don’t leave the theater district without catching a Broadway show, too.
Spend an afternoon getting up close with some of most famous celebrities, musicians, athletes and politicians in the world. Among the more than 200 lifelike wax creations at Madame Tussauds, you’ll find Elvis, Gandhi, Marilyn Monroe and the newest addition, Robert Pattinson of the vampire saga "Twilight." Feel like part of the action when you stop by the new Cinema 4D Theater, the most interactive theater in NYC.
