The Continental Club is the Houston branch of one of Austin's most famous rock n' roll nightclubs, with a history that goes back to 1957. The Continental Club Houston opened its doors in 2000 in a location on Main Street that was once a general store, and has kept many of the store's original design elements, giving the club an authentic Americana flavor. The Continental Club frequently hosts live music, including a variety of rock, punk and country bands. Past acts have included George Kinney & The Golden Dawn, Shapes Have Fangs, Something Fierce, Roky Moon & Bolt, Spain Colored Orange, the Mahas, Brandon West & the Black Hats, the Big Black Spiders, Davey Crocket, No Resistance and Anarchitex. If you're lucky, you might catch one of the venue's notorious annual events, such as a birthday party for Elvis Presley.

Dan Electro's Guitar Bar boasts a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere. It specializes in Americana music, with a heavy dose of rock n' roll, but also country, folk, blues and meta--in other words, anything that sounds good when played on a guitar. The club features live music on Thursday through Sunday nights. Regular performers include Carrie Ann Buchanan, Carolyn Wonderland, Beans Barton & the Bipeds and the Fondue Monks.
