The original Gilley's in Pasadena, Texas was in the 1980 movie "Urban Cowboy," but burned down in 1989. Gilley's was rebuilt in Dallas in 2003 and has been named one of the best country-western bars in Dallas according to Dallas.com. With a large dance floor, full service restaurant, plasma TVs, pool tables, video games and a mechanical bull (El Toro, salvaged from the original Gilley's), there is something for everyone. It has five private rooms and over 65,000 square feet of event space. Free dance lessons are given every Saturday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Gilley's also hosts a wide variety of events like country concerts, boxing tournaments and Texas Hold'em poker tournaments.
Adair's Saloon is a little bit country mixed with rock n' roll, and is located in downtown Dallas. Adair's has live country music, and the half-pound burger is popular with locals during lunch and dinner. The bar has a pool table and there is shuffleboard in the back for busy nights. Adair's has a full service bar with an extensive beverage menu and a relaxed atmosphere.
Cowboys Dance Hall is located in Arlington, about a 10-minute drive from Dallas. Cowboys has a live country house band and sometimes hosts popular country bands. Concerts, theme nights and contests (such as bull riding, cash balloon drop and dance contests) are held often. There are even teen nights available for those 17 and under. Check the website or call for times and dates of these specific nights. The club is closed to the public on Mondays and Tuesdays when it is open for private events.
