Attractions for Young Kids at Magic Kingdom

For many families with younger children, it wouldn't be Disney without the Magic Kingdom. Wise parents set out an itinerary before setting foot on that magical path. The Magic Kingdom may be the most kid-friendly of the Disney parks, but there are definite attractions for different age groups. Stick with those specifically designed for younger children, and your family will have the best vacation day possible.

  1. Mickey & Minnie Country Houses

    • Mickey's Country House and Minnie's Country House sit next door to each other in Mickey's Toontown Fair. Both houses are the perfect size for preschoolers and younger school kids. Kids can tour Mickey's house; they can see Pluto's dog dish and Mickey's living room. Children can go through Minnie's house and check her answering machine, look in her fridge and pop some popcorn. Both houses are self-guided; you can take all the time that you want.

    Tom Sawyer Island

    • Tom Sawyer Island is an outdoor playground in Frontierland. Children can run around and play; parents can sit and relax. There are places to climb over and under, and there are things to explore. Children can have fun with the secret of Tom Sawyer Island. If they find one of Tom's paintbrushes and give it to a cast member, they may get a special surprise as a reward.

    The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

    • The Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride is gentle enough for preschoolers, but it's also fun enough for school age kids to enjoy. Children sit on one of Aladdin's carpets as it goes around and up toward the sky. People should watch out for the camels that sit in front of the ride. They have been known to spit on unsuspecting people who stand within aiming distance of them.

    The Barnstormer

    • The Barnstormer is in Mickey's Toontown Fair. The Barnstormer at Goofy's Wiseacre Farm is a roller coaster designed for the youngest guests in the park. It's a crop dusting biplane ride, with gentle hills and enough of a swoop for a little one's thrills.

    Swiss Family Treehouse

    • The Swiss Family Treehouse was inspired by the movie, "Swiss Family Robinson," which was filmed in 1960. The tree house is authentic in every way, showing exactly how the family lived on their desert island. Children can climb and explore through the entire house, discovering clever island inventions and places to spy on the jungle surrounding the house.

    Dumbo the Flying Elephant

    • Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride is a Magic Kingdom classic. Children ride inside Dumbo as he soars around and up and down. Gentle enough for the smallest children, this ride still thrills school age guests along with their parents.
