Polk County Parks in Florida

Polk County is located in Central Florida's lake region. The county received its name in honor of President James Polk. With more than 60 parks spread throughout the county, visitors to the area will not be short on things to do. Recreational activities at the parks include fishing, boating, playgrounds, ball fields, picnicking, camping, hiking and viewing Florida's vast wildlife population.

  1. Lake Blue Boat Park and Ramp

    • Lake Blue Boat Park and Ramp is located in the northern section of the county in the city of Auburndale. The county operated park is located on 20 wooded acres and is handicap accessible. Located directly on Lake Blue, anglers can fish from the shoreline and boaters and canoeing enthusiasts can launch at the park's boat ramp. For those wanting to sit back or enjoy nature, the park has a picnic area, as well as a leisurely walking path for those wishing to experience the natural surroundings.

    Fort Fraser Trail

    • Located in the northwest section of Polk County in the city of Lakeland is Fort Fraser Trail. The park is located on 14 naturally, forested acres, which include the eight-mile long Fort Fraser Trail. The trail includes a covered bridge crossing the Peace River and stretches from Lakeland to Bartow. The park is handicap accessible and has restrooms. Visitors can utilize the parks picnic area and covered pavilions.

    Lake Arbuckle Park and Campground

    • Lake Arbuckle Park and Campground is located in Frostproof at the southeastern edge of the county. The park is encompassed by the 13,531 Lake Arbuckle Wildlife Management Area, including Lake Arbuckle. Located at the north end of the lake, the park offers visitors a wooded setting, which includes pavilions, a picnic area and restrooms. Campers can utilize the park's wooded campsites, which include water, electric, and a picnic table and fire ring. Boaters and canoeists can utilize the park's boat launch for exploring and fishing Lake Arbuckle. Nature enthusiasts have many opportunities to view Florida wildlife, including the alligator.

    Saddle Creek Park and Campground

    • Saddle Creek Park and Campground in located in northern Polk County in Lakeland. The park, situated on 734 wooded acres, is on the shores of Saddle Creek Lake and Saddle Creek. Anglers will appreciate the fishing opportunities each body of water holds. Boaters can utilize the park's boat ramp. For those wanting to sit back and relax, the park has pavilions and a picnic area located by the water, as well as a playground and restrooms. For hikers and nature enthusiasts, the park has approximately five miles of trails running throughout it.
