Private clubs are upscale retreats for leaders of industry. In these exclusive facilities, members can share a meal or gathering while forming personal and professional relationships. Every private club has different restrictions. Some still only allow men to join, while others only allow members of a certain ancestry to apply. New York City is home to some of the oldest and most exclusive clubs in the country.
The Soho House New York is a select private members' club and hotel located in the Meatpacking District of Manhattan. Members enjoy a choice of 24 bedrooms
ranging from 325 to 950 square feet. In addition, the club boasts the Cowshed spa, a 44-person screening room, the White Room for cocktail parties or meetings, a library with private bar, a roof-top pool, and fine dining.
There are five different types of membership. The Local House membership gives you access to Soho House facilities only; Every House membership gives you access to Soho House and all its sister clubs; Under 27 membership gives you both Local and Every House; and a children's membership is for children only. Memberships range from $250 a year for children's membership to $2,400 for Every House membership.

Exclusive services include access to 52 overnight rooms, a fully-equipped athletic club, breakfast, lunch and dinner in the Club's Bar & Grill, and a library stocked with over 10,000 volumes.
The Columbia Club also offers social activities every month, from lectures to inter-club get-togethers, and even wine tastings. Founded in New York City in 1885, the Holland Society was formed to find, preserve and document citizens' lives in the Dutch Colony and the different political, social and religious patterns throughout history. To gain admittance, applicants must be a male descent over the age of 18 who can trace his lineage--on the male side only--directly to an ancestor who lived in New Netherlands before or during 1675. Applicants can trace their ancestry by finding their surname in the society's extensive database and providing documentation to prove relation.
Membership fees vary from $50 a year to $1,500 for a lifetime membership. Membership gets you admission to the Annual Banquet, the Annual Burgher Guard Dinner, balls and many other exclusive membership activities.
