Alaska, America's most northern state, is a land of spectacular scenery, incredible wildlife, flora, fauna and friendly folks. Each year Alaska welcomes thousands of visitors from all over the world. Accommodations are as diverse as the majestic mountain views, ranging from luxury resorts, fine hotels to remote mountain cabins.

      The park department of the State of Alaska offers eight ice huts and 60 cabins that are available for rent by the public. The cabins are located in 18 state park units, as far south as Ketchikan, in Southeast Alaska, and as far north as Fairbanks, in the interior of the state.

      The cabins are simple one-room units with bare bunk beds, benches and a table. You bring your own bedding and cooking equipment. The cabins are rustic and do not have indoor plumbing or electricity.

    Ninilchik, Alaska Cabin

    • Mountain country

      Ninilchik, Alaska, located on the beautiful Kenai Peninsula, is a preferred destination for those seeking scenic beauty, comfortable accommodations and superior fishing. Visitors can fly or rent a car in Kenai or Anchorage. It's a 3.5-hour drive from Anchorage to Ninilchik. If you prefer to fly, there are several flights a day leaving from Anchorage to Kenai aboard Grant Aviation. From there it is a short, scenic 50-minute drive to Ninilchik.

      The cabin and chalet at Ninilchik Salt Water Charters is a favorite retreat of sports fishermen. The cozy single cabin can sleep up to five people; the upstairs is a three-quarters loft and has five twin beds. The cabin also has a large bathroom with a shower and all linens and toiletries supplied. It also has a collection of books and a TV.

      The cabin is equipped with a kitchen with all the utensils and cooking pans you will need, including sugar, flour, coffee, tea and all the common spices. Outside it has a large deck and a gas grill. A fire pit and fish-cleaning table are also at this cabin.

    Talkeetna, Alaska Remote Cabin

      Located on 5 remote acres outside of the township of Talkeetna, this cabin provides panoramic views of Denali (Mount McKinley). Constructed in a serene and quiet location, the rustic cabin offers most of the amenities of home, including a private bath and shower, a kitchenette, satellite TV, propane stove/oven and an outside charcoal grill.
