Cabins in Fairbanks, Alaska

Fairbanks is almost 360 miles north of Anchorage, Alaska. Although Fairbanks is a small city, it is a hub for some of the surrounding villages. Fairbanks offers visitors a wide selection of restaurants and entertainment opportunities. The Riverboat Discovery, a four-hour riverboat ride, Ice Hotel Musuem, a hotel carved out of ice, and the El Dorado Gold Mine are some of the city's popular attractions.

  1. Fairbanks Cabin Rentals -- Green Cabins

    • These green cabins, located just outside Fairbanks, are available on a month-to-month basis. Guests who want to enjoy Alaska for longer vacations should consider renting one of these units. Alternatively, if you are planning on living in the area, you could call these cozy cabins home. The cabins are 14 by 20 feet and can be rented either furnished or unfurnished. Furnished cabins come with sofa beds, dining areas and work desks.

      The cabins are energy-efficient, due to the extra insulation that has been put into the walls. However, they are not equipped with running water.

      Pets are allowed, but only with advance written approval. Smoking is permitted only outside the cabins.

      Skiing and hiking trails lead visitors right into Fairbanks, about a 3-mile journey. Once in Fairbanks, you can stock up on supplies for your cabin and enjoy dining at one of the area's restaurants.

    Denali River Cabins

    • These cabins are aptly named, because they are located just outside the entrance to Denali National Park. Cabin guests can enjoy the convenience of en-suite showers, daily housekeeping service, TV and heat. The cabins come with either two double beds or a double and single bed.

      Some cabins are quite popular, because they are right on the Nenana River, so book well in advance of your trip.

      Nature provides much of the entertainment opportunities: the Nenana River offers river rafting, and Mount McKinley is a short drive away.

      Guests won't go hungry when they stay at Denali River Cabins. A complimentary breakfast is available every morning, and there is an on-site restaurant that opens for dinner. The Denali Roadhouse Restaurant serves Alaskan-style dishes that include seafood, steak and burgers.

    Aurora Motel and Cabins

    • These cabins are set in a forest near the Fairbanks fairgrounds. The cabins have basic amenities that include queen-sized beds, en-suite bathrooms, microwaves, fridges and cable TV. The larger cabins are 16 by 20 feet and have full kitchens, WiFi and a dining area.

      These accommodations do not offer an onsite restaurant, but Geraldo's Italian Restaurant and the Cookie Jar, which serves homestyle food, are just over a mile away.

      Creamer's Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge is only minutes from Aurora Cabins. Visitors can spot birds such as Canadian geese, shovelers and Sandhill cranes. The refuge covers 2,000 acres and has events throughout the year that will appeal to visitors of all ages.
