Unusual Things to Do in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is more than just glitzy hotels and high-roller casinos. Step off the beaten path and discover a world where anything is possible for the right price. If it's thrills you seek, step into a circus school and practice your tight-rope walking skills, or shoot a machine gun in an open indoor range. The city even offers a number of museums dedicated to the over-sized lives of some of the Strip's greatest performers. There's something for everyone in Sin City.

  1. Shoot a Machine Gun

    • If your idea of fun is to play with some heavy artillery, then head over to the Gun Store and test out one of the dozens of automatic and semi-automatic weapons. Fire an AK 47 assault rifle or unload on a target with a Thompson Machine Gun. The Gun Store offers an indoor firing range and a number of party packages for bachelors and bachelorettes. Handgun and sniper rifle rentals are also available upon request.

    Attend Circus School

    • The Sandou Circus school is the city's first and only academy to offer a full curriculum of circus arts. Housed in a 7,000 sq.-ft. state-of-the-art facility with a thirty foot ceiling, the Las Vegas campus is designed to create a fun and exciting recreation program for children and adults. Workshops include basic circus skills, juggling, clown performances, gymnastics and acrobatics. The school is run by brothers Sergei and Konstantin Sandou, who have more than twenty years experience in circus training. Test out your tight rope walking abilities or practice flying through the air on the school's static trapeze.

Pay Tribute to the Great Liberace

    • America's most eccentric city is home to one of the country's most eccentric performers. The Liberace Museum offers an extensive collection of the pianist's jewelry, clothing, art work and original music scores. A number of the performer's pianos are on display, as well as his custom car collection. Also on the property is the Cabaret building, which showcases the singer's infamous nine-foot tall mirrored Baldwin piano, often used for afternoon and evening shows by some of the area's great performers.
