DiMillo's Floating Restaurant isn't just on the waterfront, it's literally in the water. Housed in a converted car ferry that rises and falls with the tide, this famous restaurant on Portland's Long Wharf features outside decks with views of Portland harbor. Owned by local restaurateur Tony DiMillo, who got his start in the business in 1954, DiMillo's is the only floating restaurant on the upper East Coast. Like most waterfront restaurants in Portland, seafood is the star of the show, and the menu features such items as lobster in and out of the shell, clams, scallops, and crab. Steaks, pork chops, chicken and even a few Italian specialties are also served. A separate kids menu is also available.

Saltwater Grille features a large outdoor deck with views of the ocean and passing yachts. Even when the weather is cold, diners can see the water from the windows as they warm themselves in front of the restaurant's fireplace. Guests who come by boat can dock at the restaurant; diners may also travel by water taxi from the city of Portland. The Maine Sunday Telegram described this restaurant's setting as "picturesque" with "a spectacular sunset view of Portland harbor and the skyline." Fresh seafood, steaks and chicken are the specialties here, and the menu includes Maine lobster, clams and fresh Maine haddock. Other menu items include scallops carbonara, maple-cured pork loin and fillet mignon. Lunch items include burgers, paninis and wraps. A large selection of wine is available, as well as bottled and draft beer.

Portland Lobster Company is located in the Old Port area and features a large outdoor dining dock that overlooks Portland Harbor. This restaurant also features live music every evening, as well as all day on Saturday and Sunday, as of 2010. Market price lobsters are delivered fresh twice a day. Portland Lobster Company is also known for it's lobster roll sandwich. Other menu items include shrimp, clams, haddock and a daily grilled catch of the day. Daily specials also vary, and beer and wine are served.
