Palestine, Texas is set among gorgeous pine and dogwood trees in the deep southwest. Visitors to Palestine can eat at a variety of restaurants set in a historical backdrop. According to the Palestine visitor website, the streets are lined with magnolia trees and classic white columns with over 1,800 historical sites to visit. Palestine is definitely an interesting and historical place, with it's classy old-style railroad and interesting sites, but many people don't know what to look for as far as the night life--and there is actually quite a bit.
Located right on Main Street, the Whistle Stop Saloon is described by visitors as a "cool retro bar." Visitors will find old photographs of Palestine scattered throughout the bar featuring the town's interesting history. Some of the photographs in the bar date back to the turn of the century. The bar offers cheap pool at 50 cents a game, a quarter jukebox and an old-fashioned long wooden bar with an original sliding ladder, reminiscent of the "old days."
