November vacations lend themselves to a homey feel. The leaves have changed colors, the air is crisp and turkey feasts are being planned. Whether you are planning a vacation for the whole family or planning a romantic trip with a partner, choices abound for a November vacation. Decide what kind of vacation you want to have.
You have the opportunity to take long drives down roads laden with the reds, yellow and oranges of fall colors. You will want to double check the weather forecast in these areas to make sure it won't be raining--or even snowing. Most states in the northeastern United States offer plenty of seasonal sights, including pumpkin patches and apple orchards. Plan a driving trip that includes several states and keep track of what you saw in each state, comparing the different sights.
Get away from it all and relax in the the comfort of a bed and breakfast or country inn. Snuggle up with someone in front of a fireplace while the staff prepares your meals. Watch the leaves fall outside your bedroom window. Be sure to request your reservations several weeks in advance. If you have a specific time period set aside, don't wait. The sooner you have the reservations made, the sooner you can make plans around wherever you are located.
Since the kids will be out of school for Thanksgiving, you might wan to include them in your vacation plans.
Disney theme parks offer Thanksgiving meal packages. You can also make a trip to New York City to see the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, complete with cartoon characters and, of course, Santa Claus.
For the history buffs, visit the birthplace of Thanksgiving, Plymouth, Massachusetts. The Thanksgiving Celebration takes place the weekend before Thanksgiving and begins with American's Hometown Thanksgiving Parade.
Reserve hotel rooms far enough in advance, since it is a major national holiday.
If family members live in the area you are visiting, include them in your plans.
Research the area you will be visiting and make an itinerary. Write down any and all tourist sights you may want to check out, and find out about how long it will take to see each of them. Also take into account how much it will cost for each stop. Then create a list of what you want to do and stick to the list.
