King Air Schools

The Beechcraft King Air and Super King Air are an extremely popular family of light twin-turboprop airplanes that have been in production since the 1960s. Over 2,000 King Air 90- and 100-series aircraft were produced. Thousands of Super King Airs have been built and they remain in production as of 2011. Specific aircraft type training is legally required by the FAA for the Super King Air, and may be required by the operator or for insurance reasons in the smaller King Air. Due to the aircraft's popularity, numerous King Air schools exist.
  1. Flight Safety International

    • Flight Safety is one of the top aviation training companies in the world for corporate and business aviation. It provides training in dozens of business jets and turboprop aircraft, and provides courses in the King Air family. Several of Flight Safety's training centers offer the King Air training including Long Beach, Atlanta, Lakeland and Wichita. Flight Safety offers both the initial training and annual recurrent training. Training is done in FAA-approved, full-motion flight simulators.

    SimCom

    • Another large provider of aviation training that provides King Air training is SimCom. SimCom offers ground and simulator training specific to all series of the King Air and Super King Air and offers a five- or seven-day initial training course, and a three- or five-day annual recurrent course, depending on type. SimCom has training locations in Orlando; Dallas; Scottsdale, Arizona, and Glendale, Arizona.

    Executive Flight Training

    • Executive Flight Training (EFT) is a smaller, private training provider that trains pilots specifically in the King Air. Its small size allows EFT to provide more economical training alternatives to expensive simulator training. For example, flight training may be conducted in the owner's own airplane, saving cost. Unlike larger schools, the training device used does not feature motion which also cuts cost. Initial, recurrent and ATP training is offered, as well as differences training.

    FlyRight

    • Located in Concord, North Carolina, FlyRight is another provider of King Air training that bills itself as a smaller, cheaper alternative to the big providers such as Flight Safety. However, in comparison to EFT, FlyRight owns and operates its own full-motion simulator. FlyRight is a King Air-only provider, so its courses are highly specialized towards the aircraft. Similar to others, it provides King Air 90 and 200 initial and recurrent training, and also provides King Air 300/350 recurrent training.
