Skytrax Research, an independent air travel information organization based in London, rates six worls airlines as 5-Star. Skytrax seeks airlines that provide the best quality product and service and offer something original, both on board and at the airport. Five-Star airlines pride themselves on attention to detail and extra amenities like seats that recline to flat beds. Patrons can expect gourmet meals and a choice of movies and music onboard all flights.
  1. Asiana Airlines

    • Asiana Airlines is based in Seoul, Korea, with offices around the world. First class passengers' sleeper seats come with a down-filled duvet. Asiana highlights regional cuisine, featuring a traditional Japanese meal on flights to and from Tokyo. Passengers have a choice of Western and Asian cuisine with wines from around the world. Asiana only serves coffee that is certified by Rainforest Alliance and grown using environmentally friendly methods.

    Cathay Pacific

    • Cathay Pacific's Hong Kong airport lounges feature restaurants and bars with a range of Asian and European cuisine. First class passengers enjoy spa rooms where they can relax in complete privacy and soak in an enormous tub. On board, first class and business class passengers enjoy massager seats. First class seats have an extendable side seat that give the feeling of being in a private cabin.

    Kingfisher Airlines

    • Based in India, Kingfisher Airlines achieved 5-Star Airline rating in 2007. Heads of state and other VIPs can choose their own flight times with Kingfisher's discreet Elite service, which include a private suite onboard with rest room and shower. Kingfisher started its own Octoberfest in 2005 on the palace grounds in Bangalore, which has become a huge annual music festival.

    Malaysia Airlines

    • The Golden Lounge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport features a relaxation room with massage chairs, foot massagers, showers, a Muslim prayer room and play area for children. Onboard, first class passengers have a side seat for visitors. Business and economy passengers receive a luxury amenity kit. Passengers can easily book hotel, rental car and train reservations through the airline's website.

    Qatar Airways

    • Qatar Airways received 5-Star status in 2004, the third airline at the time to achieve this rating. The Doha, Qatar, terminal features a full service spa with a choice of massage and facial treatments. Business travelers can use a conference room. A chauffeur meets first class passengers traveling to European destinations at the Doha International Airport. On board, the airline and the Deepak Chopra Center for Wellbeing provide passengers with a guide containing Ayurvedic techniques to feel more balanced, healthy and relaxed.

    Singapore Airlines

    • Based in Singapore, Singapore Airlines offers private suites with wide leather seats, personalized service, a personal entertainment system and a fully flat bed. First class passengers also have leather seats that recline to a fully flat bed. Business and economy passengers have seats designed to provide personal space and an entertainment system. The airline features gourmet meals and choice wines from around the world with an international culinary panel of chefs and wine consultants. Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific were the first two airlines to achieve five-star rating.
