It is important to know the status of a flight when taking a plane trip and when waiting for a flight to arrive. Normally, the airline advises whether or not the flight is on schedule, late or canceled. However, there are ways to check the status of a flight in progress and gain more information than simply the arrival and departure times.
Go to My Rate Plan (www.myrateplan.com) or FlightAware (www.flightaware.com); both sites provide flight tracking information.
Click on "Travel" at the My Rate Plan site or "Live Tracking" on the Flight Aware website.
Click on "Flight Travel" on My Rate Plan.
Use the drop-down box to select the airline on My Rate Plan. Enter the "airport code" or any part of the airport code on the Flight Aware website at the "Flight Tracker" portion.
Enter the flight number. Then press "go" on the My Rate Plan site or "Track Commercial Flight" on the Flight Aware site. A map showing the airplane and its altitude, remaining flight time and other information is listed for the flight.
