Frequent flier miles are earned through airline reward programs each time that a reward member purchases tickets for a flight. The frequent flier miles earned can then be used to obtain free or discounted flights through the airline. Frequent flier miles do not have to be used solely for flights. It is possible to convert frequent flier miles into other free or discounted goods and services.
Open the Points.com website. Points.com is a simple online conversion program that allows you to convert frequent flier miles into a number of different products and services, such as gift cards, or convert your frequent flier miles into other types of points, such as hotel points for free stays.
Sign up for a Points.com account. Accounts are free and you must have one in order to convert or redeem your frequent flier miles. Select a free sign-up bonus on the first page of the account form and enter your name, email address and a password on the second page to complete the sign-up.
Click on the “Swap” feature of the website. “Swap” appears in the list of options on the menu at the top of the main page.
Press the “Add Program to Balance Tracker” button and enter the requested information from your frequent flier account, such as program name and frequent flier number. Click the button again and add at least one more program, such as a hotel points program, to your Points.com account. Any program that you add is now available for swapping, allowing you to move frequent flier miles into your other accounts.
Choose the “Swap From This Program” option next to your frequent flier account to transfer frequent flier miles to any other program in your account. Select the program that you would like to transfer the points to when prompted and the points will be converted from frequent flier miles to points in another program.
