Things You'll Need

  • Chase Visa or MasterCard
  • Frequent flier number, if applicable

Instructions

Price your airline tickets so you will know the total cost. You can use the airline's website or a site like Expedia or Travelocity that will let you compare flight costs on multiple airlines. Determine the final total, including taxes and fees.

    • 2

Check the balance on your Chase credit card to make sure you have enough available credit to make the purchase. You can do this over the phone or online. If the total exceeds your credit line, the purchase might not go through or you might be charged an over-limit fee. If you don't have enough available credit, call Chase at the customer service number on the back of your card and ask for a credit-limit increase.

Go back to the website from which you will be purchasing the airline tickets and follow the appropriate steps. These may differ from site to site. Normally you will have to select the flights, enter the number of people and enter their identifying information. You may also be able to select specific seats. If you have a frequent flier number for the airline you are using, you will enter that too.

When you get to the payment screen, enter the required information from your Chase credit card. This will usually be the card number, expiration date, name on the card, and billing address. You may also be required to enter the three-digit verification number that appears on the back of the card.

Print out your confirmation. It may take a minute or two for the transaction to process. When it is done, a printable confirmation will appear on the screen. Print it out for your records. You can also do a screen capture and save a digital copy.

When your Chase credit card statement arrives, compare the charge on the statement with your confirmation. Make sure that the total is correct. If there is a discrepancy, call the airline to straighten it out.
