How to Use Discover Airline Rewards

Discover offers two special credit cards for customers interested in earning airline travel credit when they make purchases: the Miles by Discover card and the Escape card. The Miles by Discover card has no annual fee; no limit on the number of miles you can earn; no restrictions, such as blackout dates, required airlines or advanced bookings; and a variety of ways to redeem your miles earned. The features of the Escape card are similar to the Miles by Discover card except that the Escape card comes with higher benefits and an annual fee.

Instructions

  Book your travel arrangements -- which will include your mode of travel and your hotel reservations -- and pay using your Escape or Miles by Discover card. Once the expenses are posted to your account, call Discover's toll-free number (800-DISCOVER or 800-347-2683) to redeem your travel credits.

  Purchase a Partners or Discover gift card using your Escape or Miles by Discover card. You can purchase a Partners gift card after you have accrued at least 1,000 miles or a Discover gift card after 5,000 miles. Call 800-DISCOVER to redeem your credits after the purchases are posted to your account.

  Donate to your favorite charity using your Escape or Miles by Discover card. You can make charitable donations beginning at 5,000 miles. After the donation is posted to your account, call Discover at 800-DISCOVER to redeem credits.

  Redeem credits for cash to deposit in your bank account or another Discover account either online at Discovercard.com or by calling 800-DISCOVER. You can also withdraw cash from your Escape or Miles by Discover card account at an ATM, but you'll need a PIN. Request a PIN by calling the toll-free number.
