Zoom Airlines was a Canadian Trans-Atlantic Airline owned by Hugh Boyle. After its bankruptcy, it was bought by Globe Span Partners, who intend on relaunching the airline in 2009.
Zoom Airlines was founded in 2002 and was based in the capitol city of Ottawa. Its business model was to fill a niche in the trans-Atlantic leisure market by flying Canadian tourists to European destinations.
The original founders were two Scottish brothers, Hugh and John Boyle. The brothers had previously started and sold two travel companies in the UK.
The company was owned by Hugh Boyle.
In August, 2008, Zoom Airlines filed for bankruptcy protection.
In January, 2009 Globe Span Capital announced it acquired Zoom Airlines. In March 2009, Zoom relaunched as XPO Airlines; however, it has yet to recommence flight operations.
