According to the Delta website, Delta Airlines traces its history back to crop dusting in the 1920s. By 2010 Delta Airlines has grown to offer passenger flights to around 70 countries on 6 continents throughout the world.

    • The Century of Flight website explains that Delta Airlines was established in 1924 as Huff Daland Dusters. The company was responsible for spraying fields in an attempt to eradicate the Boll Weevil that was attacking crops throughout the Southern U.S. In 1928 the company changed its name to Delta Air Service and purchased three five-passenger airplanes to begin passenger flights.

    Headquarters

    • Delta Airlines is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A, which has been the company's headquarters since 1941. Prior to its move to Atlanta, Delta Airlines headquarters were located in Monroe, Louisiana, according to Century of Flight.

    Fleet

    • Delta Airlines company has a fleet of around 800 aircraft flying to over 350 destinations around the world. In 2010, Delta estimates it carries over 160 million passengers per year and employs around 70,000 people throughout the world.
