You earn miles by purchasing flights with Delta, Delta Shuttle or Delta Connection. You also can earn miles by making purchases from Delta partners, who include a number of car rental companies, hotel chains, banks and insurance companies.
Another way to get Sky Miles is to buy them. For example, you could buy them as a gift for a friend or as an employee incentive or business gift. As of October 2010, the maximum number of miles you can deposit in any Sky Miles account is 60,000.
Once you have collected your miles, you can use them in a number of different ways. You can exchange miles for Delta flights or for Sky Club membership. Non-travel related benefits include subscriptions to newspapers and magazines and tickets to Broadway shows, while you also can choose to donate your miles to charity.
