Delta Sky Miles is a rewards program developed by Delta Airlines to offer benefits for frequent fliers. This program is a lot like other rewards programs that other airlines offer. As an additional benefit to customers of Delta they allow people to buy miles (if they are short a few for a free trip), or transfer miles to other Sky Miles members. Transferring miles is easy to do.
Go to the Delta Sky Miles member Home Page.
Log into your online Delta Sky Miles account. In order to do this you will need your Sky Miles number, pin number, and last name. Enter the information into the designated box in the top left hand corner and click "Log In." The page will reload and look almost exactly the same, except that your account information will appear in the upper left hand corner, instead of log in screen.
Click on "Buy & Transfer Miles." This will be below the account information on the left hand side of the screen. After you click "Buy & Transfer Miles" the page will redirect you to a new screen.
Click on "Transfer Miles." This will be in the center of the screen in blue, below "Buy Miles." This will open a new page.
Select the amount of miles to transfer. As of February 2010 Delta charges one cent per mile to transfer, and they must be transferred in 1,000 mile ($10) increments. There is also a $30 processing fee for each transaction, so make sure you know the exact amount of miles you need to transfer so you can avoid paying the $30 fee more than once.
Click "Transfer Miles." This will redirect you to a new page that will prompt you to enter the sky miles number of the recipient, and the method of payment.
Complete the page. Enter in all requested information including credit card information, billing address, and all sky miles numbers.
Click "Complete." The transaction will be processed immediately and in most cases the miles will be ready to use instantly. Delta does have a disclaimer that a 24 hour delay may occur.
