Delta SkyMiles accumulate as a Delta credit card user makes everyday purchases using their card or books flights via Delta. Since those miles expire after a certain amount of time, it's very likely that a card member may not be able to utilize all of their minutes or perhaps they simply want to share those minutes with friends and family. Delta allows SkyMiles to switch hands from one SkyMile user to another, and it's a rather simple process. However, like any aspect of credit card processing there are fees involved. Users can also exchange SkyMiles miles for NorthWest WorldPerks miles between their own accounts.
Visit the official Delta SkyMiles webpage and log into your SkyMiles account. To login, you'll need your login id and pin number. If you have forgotten either one, retrieve from the main access page.
Click on the "Transfer Minutes" link. Choose how many miles you would like to transfer. You can transfer as little as 1,000 miles with a maximum set at 30,000 miles.
Enter the SkyMiles account number for the person you are transfer the minutes to and then enter her full name as it appears on her SkyMiles account. Make sure you use the information exactly as shown on his account.
Pay the fees displayed for the number of minutes being transferred, using your credit card. Delta charges a $30 processing fee along with a charge of $.01 per mile being transferred. That means that 1,000 miles would cost $40 to transfer while 2,000 miles would run $50.
Log into your SkyMiles account via the official Delta SkyMiles Page.
Click "Transfer Minutes."
Enter the number of miles to transfer followed by the WorldPerks account information from your account. Enter your credit card information. The miles should transfer immediately following the submission of the requested information including payment.
