Philadelphia Airport Luggage Restrictions

Luggage restrictions at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) vary based on the airline with which you are traveling. Philadelphia is a hub for US Airways, which bases its restrictions on the class of travel, destination, weight, physical mass, and quantity.
  1. Weight Limits

    • Along with most major airlines, US Airways adheres to a 50 lbs. limit for economy checked bags and Anything heavier will incur additional charges. Carry-on bags are limited to 40lbs.

    Bag Fees

    • US Airways charges for bags on all flights, except for Europe, South America and the Middle East. The first bag costs $25, the second $35 and the third $100, as of October 2010. To Europe the first is free and the second $55.

    Quantity Limits

    • US Airways carry-on mass is limited to 45 inches in linear dimension (length plus width plus height). The limit for total dimensions of checked baggage is 62 inches.

    • Passengers can carry one bag and one smaller personal item on to the airplane. One which must be stowed in the overhead bin, and one beneath the seat in front.
