Passengers may bring aboard one carry-on bag which must be small enough to fit under the seat in front of them or in the overhead bin. The airline also allows one personal item, which includes such things as handbags, umbrellas, briefcases and laptop computers. Assistive devices such as canes, walkers and crutches must fit into overhead bins and do not count toward the carry-on limit.
Carry-on items must be smaller than 24 inches long by 18 inches wide by 13 inches tall. Personal items must be smaller than 17 inches long by 12 inches wide by 8.5 inches tall.
Air Tran Airways restricts certain items from carry-on baggage. This includes things such as knives, straight razors, guns, ammunition, martial arts weapons, pesticides and hand grenades.
Air Tran Airways allows many things in carry-on bags, including 3 oz. bottles of lotions, aerosols, nail polishes and other personal care products. The airline also allows passengers to carry on nail clippers, nail files and scissors with a blade size of four inches or less.
