For luggage that you are checking, the allowance on British Airways is one bag that weighs up to 51 lbs. for domestic flights and World Traveler bookings, two bags for World Traveler Plus bookings (51 lbs.) and Club Europe bookings (70.5 lbs.) and three bags for First Club World bookings (70.5 lbs). Your bags can be up to 75 inches by 29.5 inches by 25.5 inches.
There is no additional charge for sporting equipment or musical equipment provided that it is one of your allowed checked items. If it exceeds the number of checked items you are permitted to have, you will be required to pay an additional fee.
Adults are permitted to have two carry-on bags on the flight. The main piece of luggage can be 22 inches by 18 inches by 10 inches and must fit into the baggage gauge that is located at the check-in counter. The second item can be 18 inches by 14 inches by 18 inches and is required to fit under the seat in front of you. The weight allowance is determined by whether you can lift the luggage into the over-head compartment on the airplane.
There are two ways to pay the necessary fees for additional luggage--either online or at the airport. The online fee for each additional bag for flights within the UK, Europe and Russia is $40. For all other flights, the fee for the first bag is $48 and $112 for each additional bag. If you choose to pay at the airport, the fee for UK, European and Russian flights is $50 and all other flights are $112 for the first bag and $140 for each additional bag. The fee for a bag that is more than 51 lbs. but less than 70 lbs. is $50. Luggage that is more than 70 lbs. must be shipped by cargo.
