Passengers may bring one carry-on bag weighing 40 pounds or less on its domestic and international flights. Carry-ons must be no larger than 45 inches long, 14 inches wide and nine inches high.
Passengers flying to or from Europe or India may check one bag at no charge and those flying to or from Asia or Brazil may check two bags. First-class and business class passengers may check up to three bags at no additional charge. All baggage must weigh 50 pounds or less to avoid overweight charges.
American waives bag-checking charges and expedites baggage unloading for Platinum and Executive Platinum members of its AAdvantage club. AAirpass holders and Oneworld's Emerald and Sapphire members also receive preferential baggage service.
