American Airline Regulations

American Airlines was incorporated in 1934 and has served millions of passengers since its inception. It is one of the largest airlines in the United States, and the airline travels to hundreds of destinations domestically and internationally.
  1. Considerations

    • There are certain regulations that passengers should be aware of when traveling. Most airline regulations are created to ensure the safety of the passengers and crew.

    Luggage

    • According to the Transportation Security Administration, there are certain items you are not allowed to take on a plane. For example, you are forbidden from carrying on knives, meat cleavers, baseball bats and guns or ammunition.

    Batteries

    • In January 2008, American Airlines banned the allowance of lithium batteries in checked luggage. If an individual wants to take extra batteries, they are required to bring them in their carry-on bags.

    Pregnancy

    • There are certain regulations for pregnant women who want to fly on American Airlines. If a woman wants or needs to travel within four weeks of her delivery date, a medical certification is required.

    Pets

    • According to American Airlines, dogs and cats are the only pets the airline accepts for onboard travel to domestic destinations. There are special pet regulations that apply to those traveling to Hawaii or internationally.
