What Can Men Wear on a Cruise?

Cruises are a chance for people who love to dress up, to do so. If you've never been on a cruise before, it can be difficult to decide what you should and should not pack. Many cruiseliners have relaxed their dress code from formal to more casual attire. However, for a night at the captains table, a tuxedo is still required.
  1. Formal Attire

    • If you don't have a tuxedo stored away in your wardrobe, it's time to rent one. Some cruiseliners even have an evening wear rental service on board. Formal attire (suits, ties and shoes) will be required for some of the evening meals while you are on the cruise, especially when attending the captains dinner. A pair of polished, black shoes are also a must for the final touches to your suit or tuxedo.

    Semiformal attire

    • For those less-formal nights that don't require the tuxedo, a polo shirt and a pair of chino's will be appropriate. Take with you a sport's jacket, as when the sun goes down, and the nights can get a little chilly.

    Casual Attire

    • A pair of knee-length cotton shorts and a cotton t-shirt will feel comfortable for the daytime while sightseeing on an excursion or strolling around the deck. If there is a swimming pool on board, you will need a pair of swimming trunks. A pair of sunglasses and a pair of comfy deck shoes or sandals will also be useful in the day time.
