How do I Get an International Driver's License in Hong Kong?
An International Driving Permit (IDP), often mistakenly referred to as an International Driver's License, permits the holder to drive in the countries and places outlined in The Geneva Conventions. Drivers in Hong Kong specifically should note that Macau and mainland China do not conform to this agreement, and an IDP does not give the holder the right to drive in either place. The IDP is valid for one year and must be re-applied for after expiration.
