How to Get an International Driver's License in San Jose, California

An International Driving Permit, or IDP, is a travel document that is valid in more than 150 countries. The U.S. State Department recommends an IDP to travelers because most countries do not recognize U.S. driver's licenses. You must have a valid U.S. driver's license and be at least 18 years of age to receive a permit. The IDP is available through the American Automobile Association or the National Automobile Club. However, only AAA has a branch in the city of San Jose.
