Ask if you are covered for theft or vandalism. Rental agencies do not offer the coverage. Request the coverage for the rental period.
Purchase the CDW or liability coverage if cost effective at the rental location. Your insurance carrier will have a deductible to consider if you have a damage claim. Rental agencies charge little to none on the deductible. This outweighs the cost of your own insurance in some instances. Consider that your insurance company will also increase your premiums with a claim.
