Most cruise ships refer to the main deck as the upper deck of the ship. This deck is the uppermost deck on the ship, meaning there are no other decks above it.
Most cruise ships generally do not have cabins on the upper decks. However, some of the more expensive cruise lines offer cabins with balconies and verandas on the upper deck.
Some cruise lines also consider the upper deck to be the highest deck where many of the cruise's amenities are located. This deck generally includes the main restaurant and reception areas.
