The Majesty of the Seas, in service since its maiden voyage on April 26, 1992, has a passenger capacity of 2,767 as of February 2011, according to the Royal Caribbean website. The ship measures 880 feet long and has a cruising speed of 19 knots. Gross tonnage, or the internal volume of the ship below deck, lists out at 74,077. The Majesty of the Seas, newly refurbished as of 2011, presents many features in its interior, including floor-to-ceiling windows. A four-story central lobby highlights the interior space of the ship, which was one of the first mega ships in the cruise industry. Other interior features include a day spa and fitness center, a cinema, several boutiques, lounges with live entertainment, and a casino with table games and slot machines.
The Majesty of the Seas boasts 12 decks, or levels. Travelocity and Royal Caribbean both describe the layouts of decks 2 to 12. For example, deck 2 contains all state rooms, some with an ocean view and others in the interior. Ocean-view state rooms on decks 2 and 3 have porthole windows, while state rooms on decks 7 and 8 have obstructed views.
Deck 3 is similar to deck 2 with the exception of it having a dining room at one end. Decks 4 and 5 have staterooms with a dining room on deck 4. Deck 5 is the location for boutiques, a lounge and the casino. Deck 6 contains all state rooms, while decks 7 and 8 have state rooms and conference facilities on deck 7.
Deck 9's state rooms are called superior ocean view and it is also the site of the day spa and fitness center. Deck 10 has rooms designated as suites, while decks 11 and 12 contain public areas including the pool and rock climbing wall.
The Majesty of the Seas offers conference facilities, including three conference centers with seven other rooms that can be used for small groups that break out from a larger group. All the technology one would expect is found on the ship, including an overhead projector, slide projector, podium with microphone, laser pointer, flip charts and a portable screen are also available. A television with DVD and VCR players and a CD player complete the facility setup.
