The Carnival Spirit, built in 2001, features 12 decks, five of which hold guest staterooms. The seven decks which don't include staterooms feature bars, restaurants, a theater, casino, spa and swimming pools. The ship measures 960 feet long and weighs 88,500 tons. Carnival considers the ship as part of its large class of ships and registers the ship in Panama. The ship sails with a crew of 930, including senior officers.
The ship holds 1,062 staterooms, which hold up to a maximum of 2,124 guests.The ship offers six types of staterooms. Interior staterooms offer either two single beds or one double bed. Exterior staterooms have a window. Balcony rooms feature a small outdoor balcony, while Balcony 9A rooms feature a larger interior cabin and a balcony large enough for two small chairs. Suites and penthouse suites offer the largest cabin space among the ship's staterooms. Some staterooms feature connecting doors, perfect for families.
The Carnival Spirit offers one large dining restaurant, the Empire Restaurant, a sushi bar and the Fountain cafe on the second floor. The ninth floor, the Lido Deck, features a few other food options including a deli, buffet, ice cream parlor, pizza shop, salad bar and the La Playa Grille, which offers a Taste of Nations buffet. The Lido Deck also features a spa, three pools, men's and women's sauna and steam room, and a gym. The 10th floor, the Sun Deck, has a children's activity area and the Nouveau Steakhouse, which offers a New York-style steakhouse experience. The second floor, Promenade Deck, features Club Cool Jazz Club, the Louis XIV Casino, Champion's Sports Bar, Dancin' Dance Club and the Pharoah's Palace, where live stage shows and other events take place. The palace features two floors of seating.
