The Ruby Princess is part of a fleet known for its "big ship choice and small ship feel." The cruise line began in 1965 with a single ship, Princess Patricia, and eventually became famous through its presence on the TV show "The Love Boat." Princess Cruises still prides itself on its ability to conjure romance.
A choice of five staterooms is available. An Inside Double is an interior stateroom with two twin beds that can be combined into a queen, while the Outside Double is an ocean-view equivalent. There is also an Outside Double with a balcony. The Mini Suite with Balcony is larger than the Outside Double with a balcony stateroom, and includes two twin beds, a sitting area with a sofa bed and a desk. The Suite with Balcony is a grander version of the Mini Suite with more space and deluxe amenities.
The Ruby Princess has close to 900 staterooms with private balconies, a "dramatic" piazza-style atrium, a Lotus Spa with fitness center, a teen and children's center, and a wedding chapel.
The ship will feature performing street entertainers, Movies Under the Stars in the Princess Theater, several pools, spas and hot tubs, a nine-hole putting course, a golf simulator, a jogging track, art auctions, bars, nightclubs, a library and a number of boutiques.
The ship will have its customary Personal Choice Dining with the option of traditional or "any time" seating, and it boasts buffets, take-out eateries, and the choice of either casual or formal dining.
