You can bring carry-on luggage filled with alcohol as long as it is stored properly. The rule is simple – keep your alcohol purchases in the original packing containers and put them inside the transparent, sealable plastic bag. The capacity of the plastic bag cannot be more than 20x20 cm and it cannot be thicker than 1 cm. Each piece of hand-luggage must not contain more than one plastic bag.
The maximum liquid or gel that can be carried in hand luggage is 100ml. This includes any gels, pastes, liquids or creams (like toothpaste, shower gels, oils, perfumes and lip glosses). Each single container must not be more than 100ml, even if the bottle itself holds 1l of liquid.
You can also bring tax-free alcohol on board
You can bring with you the purchased liquids in duty free shops when you depart from non-EU airports and when you transit, provided that:
- they are carried with the proof of purchase,
- they are contained in a suitably sealed, secure and tamper-evident packaging,
- the packaging includes a visible indication that the date and place of purchase of the goods were within 36 hours before the passenger boarded the aircraft.
- the alcohol was purchased in an EU approved retail outlet.
Liquids purchased after airport security check
Liquids in hand luggage which were bought inside the EU departure airport shops after the airport security check (shops with ‘duty paid’) can be taken through security into departures at the airport and onto your flight.
