What is Utah law for children riding in the front seat of a car?

Utah Code § 41-6-111 states that children under 8 years of age must ride in a child restraint system when traveling in a motor vehicle. Child restraint systems include car seats, booster seats, and harnesses.

There are some exceptions to this law, such as:

- When a child is traveling in a taxi, limousine, or bus

- When a child is traveling in a motor home or camper

- When a child is riding in the front seat of a pickup truck or SUV with a passenger airbag that can be turned off

- When a child is riding in a vehicle driven by a farm or construction worker on the job

If a child is not properly restrained, the driver of the vehicle may be ticketed. The fine for violating this law is \$100.
